Support
We will continue to provide technical support to customers who
have purchased Novell DR Multiuser DOS through our standard
distribution channel through May 1, 1993. The Master VARs who
will now resell DR Multiuser DOS will support the product they
sell, and clearly identify that on their packaging. After May 1,
1993 support inquiries may be referred to the Master VARs.
Included a set of Questions and Answers to help clarify

DR Multiuser DOS Master VAR Transition Questions and Answers
Q. Why is Novell adopting a Master VAR strategy for DR Multiuser
DOS?
A. The Multiuser DOS market has specific requirements that are
not adequately addressed by Novell's current distribution
methods. Because of the special customer needs for DR Multiuser
DOS, we have selected Master VARs with the specific experience,
expertise and business focus to fulfill the ongoing customer
demand for DR Multiuser DOS.
Q. Why were these vendors selected?
A. Each was selected on the basis of their long-standing
Multiuser DOS experience, expertise, and presence within the
Multiuser DOS community. Their vast experience in Multiuser
systems and networks, and strength of their engineering,
marketing and sales staffs make each of them an ideal choice to
continue development, sales and support of DR Multiuser DOS.
Q. Who are these vendors?
A. Concurrent Controls, Inc. (CCI) and Intelligent Micro
Software (IMS) are both longtime developers and resellers of
multiuser systems and networks using their modified and enhanced
versions of Concurrent DOS and DR Multiuser DOS. They provide a
full service solution including support and systems integration.
In addition to their current modified versions of DR multiuser
DOS, they will also handle distribution of the current version
of Novell DR Multiuser DOS.
Q. Will Novell continue to sell and support DR Multiuser DOS?
A. As a result of this agreement, Novell will discontinue
distribution and OEM sales of DR Multiuser DOS 5.1 as of
November 1, 1992. Customer inquiries and leads will be referred
to the Master VARs, who will support those customers. Novell
will continue to provide end-user support for copies of Novell
DR Multiuser DOS 5.1 packaged product sold through Novell's
existing distributors until May 1, 1993. Novell will also honor
its contractual obligations to support current OEM customers.
Q. How will OEM sales be handled?
A. As a result of the Master VAR agreement, each vendor has the
right to sub-license product to OEMs. They will deal with and
support their OEM customers directly.
Q. What are the future development plans for DR Multiuser DOS?
A. Novell has provided full DR Multiuser DOS source code to its
Master VAR partners in order to allow them to further develop
and enhance the product. In addition, Novell will make available
relevant enhancements to DR DOS, in order for them to add that
functionality. And as Novell developers, they will be able to
continue to provide the highest level of NetWare support by
participating in Novell's "YES" program.
Q. How will end-users benefit from this new arrangement?
A. End-users will benefit from having a more direct relationship
with their operating system vendor, one who is fully committed
to the continued development, sales and support of its Multiuser
DOS solutions. As Multiuser DOS system specialists and Novell
developers, these vendors will be able to provide the the
highest level of support and the fastest response to current and
future customer requirements for this product.
